Hi, I'm Alex Pettit

Designing What Feels Good to Use—and Good to MakeI’m a visual designer based in Southern California with a background in graphic design and a lifelong passion for art. I started in branding and marketing design, and over time expanded my focus to include more user-centered digital experiences. I believe continuous learning is key to creative growth, and I’m always drawn to fresh challenges that keep me curious and engaged. When I’m not designing, you’ll probably find me working on new art pieces—or deep into a video game.

UX & UI Projects

I'm at the beginning of my journey into UX/UI design—but I'm all in.This section features website and app mockups I’ve created as part of my training and ongoing personal projects. As I continue to grow my skills in interface design, user flow, and digital storytelling, I'm exploring how thoughtful design can shape better, clearer, and more human-centered experiences.

This project explores clean, user-centered design with an emphasis on clarity, transparency, and sustainability.Below is a short video preview of the homepage and selected sections, shown in desktop and iPad modes. The design focuses on accessible data visualization, bold highlights, and a tone that’s equal parts professional and empowering.

Logo & Identity Design

Welcome to my favorite kind of puzzle: helping brands figure out who they are—and how they show up in the world. This sample collection includes finished logos, early concept sketches, brand mood boards, and even a full brand guideline. From the first spark of an idea to the final mark, I love shaping visual identities that feel intentional, expressive, and built to last.

From homepage takeovers to scroll-stopping banners, digital ads have to earn attention—fast. This collection includes a mix of campaign-based ad placements and web banners, all designed to stand out in busy digital environments. Whether tucked into a sidebar or stretched across a homepage, these pieces combine brand clarity, bold visuals, and a clear call to action—built to guide the eye and drive engagement.

Print & Production

There’s something satisfying about seeing your work out in the wild—on a page, on a vehicle, or in someone’s hands. This collection features some of my favorite print-ready designs, from magazine ads to branded car wraps. Built for impact, designed to last.

Personal Artwork

Art has always been a part of who I am. Under the name Shades of Vanity, I’ve sold original work online, at conventions, and through custom commissions. What started as a side hustle has become a creative sanctuary—now more hobby than hustle—as I continue exploring new mediums and styles.

Photoshop Designs

Art By Hand

Drawn in charcoal and soft pastel, this collection is my homage to the darker stories that have always captured my imagination—horror films, haunting characters, and eerie moments frozen in time.
Though a bit shadowy, these pieces are less about fear and more about fascination—handmade tributes to the things that linger in the mind long after the credits roll.

Photoshop Designs

A collection of surreal, whimsical, and sometimes weird creations—where animals meet unexpected companions. These Photoshop explorations combine organic and inorganic elements to form creatures and compositions that live somewhere between the real and the imagined.

Hi, I’m Alex—a visual designer with a love for storytelling, layout, and thoughtful details.I started my career designing for print and marketing, building a strong foundation in brand communication, production, and campaign design. Along the way, I’ve explored everything from car wraps to convention banners to magazine spreads. But as much as I enjoy crafting visuals, I’ve always been most drawn to the why behind the design—and how it connects with real people. That curiosity led me to pursue UX/UI design, where I’m now focusing on building digital experiences that feel clear, human, and engaging. I recently completed my UI certification and have been growing my portfolio through hands-on projects that include app and website mockups, interface explorations, and a touch of interaction design.Outside of work, I’m also an artist under the name Shades of Vanity, where I create both handmade and digital art—often inspired by darker aesthetics, horror films, and surreal little ideas that don’t quite fit anywhere else.
